NBA Legend and Business Leader Magic Johnson Speaks to 75 Chicago Youth on Importance of Education and Staying in School

Allstate and Breakthrough Ministries Host Conversation as Part of Black History Month

What: Allstate, SodexoMAGIC, and Breakthrough Ministries are uniting to provide an afternoon of empowerment for youth as a part of their commitment to the Chicago community. Earvin “Magic” Johnson will discuss the role of education in his life, including the importance of staying in school, and the story of his transformation from athlete to business leader.


Who: Seventy-five Chicago youth from the East Garfield Park neighborhood will hear Magic Johnson speak. Participating students were selected based on personal and academic achievements and come from Chicago Public Schools’ Jacob Beidler Elementary, Westinghouse College Prep, and Chicago West Side Christian School.


Why: Allstate is a leading partner of Breakthrough Ministries and is a key supporter of the new FamilyPlex facility being built in the East Garfield Park community. Both Allstate and SodexoMAGIC have pledged support to Breakthrough for 2014 through the involvement of their employee network groups working in the Chicago community.


When: Tuesday, February 11 at 2:30 p.m.
