Allstate employee Steve Rosemurgy has dedicated thousands of hours over the past seven years to helping increase accessibility and affordability of healthcare services for families on Chicago’s far Northside. Rosemurgy, a volunteer and the current board chair at Heartland Health Centers, has been recognized by his colleagues as Allstate’s Employee Volunteer of the Year because of his service to the local community.

"When I started volunteering with Heartland Health Centers, I could have never imagined how sorely needed healthcare services were in the neighborhood," said Rosemurgy, Allstate’s Volunteer of the Year. "I’m so tremendously appreciative of this award and the services we are providing to tens of thousands of Chicagoans each year. It’s my hope that I’ve helped make a difference in people’s lives."

Heartland Health Centers provides high quality and comprehensive health and dental services to the most vulnerable populations on Chicago’s north side. Rosemurgy has served in a number of leadership roles during his seven years as a volunteer. He first served as a member of the marketing and communications committee and then rose to become vice-chair and now serves as board chairman.

"Steve gives his time, talent and a great dose of energy to our organization," said Gwenn Rausch, chief executive officer at Heartland Health Centers. "He’s helped guide our organization through a period of incredible growth from 10,000 patient visits in 2007 to more than 70,000 today. It’s a testament to Steve’s leadership that Heartland Health Centers has been able to expand its services in the community. Many people will be forever grateful for his service."

"Volunteerism is part of our DNA at Allstate and Steve is an exemplary role model," said Vicky Dinges, senior vice president of corporate responsibility at Allstate. "The commitment to giving back that Steve and all our outstanding volunteers demonstrate is core to our company values and strengthens the way we do business. I am personally inspired by their service and offer my heartfelt appreciation for all they do."

Allstate’s Employee Volunteer of the Year Program acknowledges company volunteers who embody the spirit of giving back to the communities where they live and work. The honors are awarded annually to Allstate’s top volunteers across the company. The overall winner receives a $5,000 donation to the nonprofit of their choice. Rosemurgy is directing his award to Heartland Health Centers.
