Last week, 24 nonprofit leaders from around the country became the second class to participate in The Allstate Foundation Greater Good Nonprofit Leadership Program. The program provides professional development training for emerging leaders.

Greater Good is a partnership between The Allstate Foundation and Northwestern University’s Kellogg Center for Nonprofit Management. Participants represent diverse nonprofit organizations, have 10+ years of experience and have been identified as future leaders within their organizations.

“Each one of our participants possesses the talent, leadership potential, commitment and desire to make a difference in the world,” said Vicky Dinges, senior vice president, corporate responsibility, Allstate. “Through our Greater Good program, we are making it possible for these future leaders to develop new skills that can benefit and strengthen their organizations and communities.”

Greater Good 2016 participants will receive access to leadership coaches and development opportunities specifically tailored to their needs, and a stipend to attend opportunities beyond those offered through the onsite component of the program. Prior to the start of the program, each participant completed a 360-degree leadership assessment and a professional development plan.

The Greater Good program exposes participants to experts in management, communication and fundraising. In total, 12 days of in-person instruction will be facilitated by professors, faculty and experts affiliated with Northwestern University.

“The experience was a once-in-a-lifetime gift and I found the classroom, cohort learning and individual development opportunities to be transformative in how I lead in the sector,” said Lydia Stazen Michael, a participant in the 2015 Greater Good program and vice president of development and communications for All Chicago, an organization dedicated to ending homelessness.
